Every Thursday during July and August, the Museum will present Brown Bag with the Artist at noon. This free program is for anyone who would like to know a bit more about how art is created. there may be a demonstration, a conversation, or a slide show. You'll learn a little something and have fun at the same time. Bring your lunch or get a box lunch from the Palette Cafe.
Jenny Reynolds: Beyond Technique, Thinking in an Abstract Way Using collage as her medium of choice, Columbus artist Jenny Reynolds will be examining the roots of creativity through shape, line, color, and glue. She will be demonstrating her collage techniques, and she will bring some of her old photographs and paintings to jumpstart this creative process. Reynolds writes, “Ideas come from within and placing color and shapes on paper will give you great ideas for use in other creative challenges

George Tooker: A Retrospective will bring together approximately sixty paintings and drawings, including several of Tooker's best-known works such as The Subway (1950; Whitney Museum of American Art), Government Bureau (1956; Metropolitan Museum of Art), The Waiting Room (1959; Smithsonian American Art Museum) and Ward (1970-71; private collection). This exhibition will introduce new audiences to Tooker's hauntingly beautiful and unforgettable imagery. It will reveal the extraordinary range and depth of Tooker's art to scholars and artists who may only be familiar with paintings such as The Subway. Meet in the Museum lobby to begin your tour. Free with admission.

Individuals and groups are invited to enjoy a leisurely afternoon of art and tea. Enjoy a docent-led tour followed by sweet tea and snacks. The cost is $10 and reservations are requested a week in advance. Please call 614.629.0359 for information or to schedule.
