Cartas de Cuba—Letters from Ohio features works by artists in Cuba and Ohio in a robust dialogue that emphasizes freedom of expression. The project was developed with a goal to strengthen international relations through art and community. It includes nearly 180 Central Ohio and Cuban artists who are eager to continue to hold these doors open and expand their vision.
In addition to the Museum’s presentation, the project also features works at the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Loann Crane Gallery and the Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery. Following its presentation in Columbus, the exhibition will travel to Havana, Cienfuegos, and Camaguey in Cuba.
Cartas de Cuba is organized by Michael Reese, who has worked to build artistic relationships between Columbus and Cuba for many years. It is sponsored by Artway Inc., a not-for-profit organization that advocates for the arts. The exhibition project is supported by Sally Crane and Richard Cox, Don Klingbeil, Donna and Larry James, Hon. Yvette McGee Brown and Anthony L. Brown, Jerry Friedman, Jose Rodriguez, Michael Reese, Ohio Arts Council, Greater Columbus Arts Council, Columbus Museum of Art, and the Vern Riffe Center.
