The U.S. has more than 420,000 youth in the foster care system. Less than 3% of them will graduate from a four-year college. Dr. Sharrica Miller is the exception to this staggering statistic. Her father sold drugs and her mother used them. Because her mother struggled to provide a stable environment when her father went to jail, Sharrica spent 12 years of her childhood in foster care. Still Waters Never Crash is a riveting story that follows Sharrica as she visits motels she used to call home, reflects on her first foster care placement at the age of five, reconnects with the only foster mother that made her feel like family, explains how she willed her way into Howard University with a 2.92 GPA and details what it took to forgive her mother who after many failed attempts sobered up and inspired Sharrica to become an author, entrepreneur and speaker.
