Wednesdays@2: Inklings of an Empire: Louise Nevelson’s Early Prints
March 26, 2025
2:00–3:00 PM
Location: CMA
In this program, CMA Art Bridges Fellow Grace Tran will discuss Louise Nevelson's printmaking practice, which began in New York City at the avant-garde print workshop Atelier 17, where she produced approximately 29 plates and 200 prints between 1952 and 1955. In these experimental prints, Nevelson began to develop inky architectural forms that would come to define her monumental sculptures. Tran’s lecture will explore the visual influences and innovative techniques that Nevelson utilized during her time at Atelier 17, as well as the ways in which these prints impacted the trajectory of her artistic career.
We are pleased to present this program in conjunction with the exhibition
Louise Nevelson: Dawn to Dusk, on view through August 24.
Tickets are free for members, $10 for nonmembers.
