Wednesdays@2 – Mozart to Matisse: Dale Chihuly
February 19, 2020
2:00 PM
Location: CMA
Mozart to Matisse is a series featuring chamber music performed by Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) musicians paired with discussions of art related in theme by CMA curators. In conjunction with the CSO’s performance of the opera Bluebeard’s Castle by Béla Bartók, featuring new sculptures in glass by Dale Chihuly, this program will include a brief illustrated talk on the art of Chihuly. The artist’s striking glass sculptures, organic in form and brilliantly vibrant in
color, are known the world over. Among his well-known series are Seaforms, inspired by shells, sea urchins, and acquatic creatures, and Chandeliers, consisting of exuberant hanging sculptures. CMA’s work by Chihuly, Isola di San Giacomo in Palude, on view in Derby Court since 1999, is a visitor favorite. Cost of this
program is $20 for nonmembers (includes general admission) and $5 for members.
